Stuttering video

Postby Aceman21 » Mon Aug 31, 2009 12:10 pm

My cpu has an intel core 2quad q8200 @ 2.33ghz with Vista, My ps3 media server version is 1.10.51 and I'm trying to stream to a ps3. My connection is from the ps3 is a Dlan to a Dlink router 802.11 2.4ghz then hard wired out of the router to CPU. Before i start playing around with perameters within the program, i just want to know if my hardware is good enough. I'm getting stuttering video. avi's seem to play the best but still stutter.

D-Lan meaning homeplugs? In this case, you can probably forget about full HD transcoding (homeplug performance really varies), but you can probably make 720P work with the given PC specs. You'll have to specify reasonable values for the Maximum Bandwidth and Video Quality settings.
Note: it will probably be enough for just remuxes and direct streaming. Full transcoding will be required for subtitle support or if your video is not PS3 compatible.

Could anyone suggest reasonable values for the Maximum Bandwidth and Video Quality settings in this case?

I think my problem is the ethernet bridge or dlan. Ihave the netgear xe102 that boasts Ethernet-like data rates of up to 14 Mbps. This is the source of my stuttering correct????????
