Keep at it Rob. I'm using W7 64 bit RC and have had no problems at all. Not much help I know but the solution is there somewhere!

At bit of background...

W7 64 bit RC installed recently. No other codec packs, media players, whatever etc installed. I was determined not to clutter up my PC this time. Vanilla Homegroup sharing settings to let PS3 and WMP12 see each other as that is how I was previously watching content after running it through mkv2vob. Check your Homegroup settings, I think I enabled pretty much everything. Sharing in WMP12 then disabled once I installed PS3 Media Server.
NOD32(64 bit) AV only. Windows Firewall only. No tweaking required.
PC >>> Netgear Gigabit switch >>> PS3. Netgear Gigabit switch is connected to a Netgear DG834N modem/router.

PS3MS just worked. It should with you too.

Good luck!

Well in that case my PS3 wouldn't find Windows Media Player as well right?

@ extravirgin: I didn't enable anything at all in my homegroup settings. I am going to try it later today.

Reinstalled JAVA / PMS and enabled the homegroup. Nothing worked :S. I really don't know what i am doing wrong. Maybe i'll try to reset my router and configure it from scratch again when i have the time...

Anyone knows if PMS is really picky with network settings?? Pickier than Windows Media Player that is... Maybe the network is the problem and WMP does not have a problem with it but PMS does???

FWIW, I had the same issue as you and I changed the encryption from 128bit to 40-56bit in "File sharing connections" in Win7, rebooted and now mine works. Worth a shot....

Have you tried smashing your PC, TV and PS3 into tiny bits with a cricket bat? I doubt it will solve your problem but I've heard it does wonders for your stress levels.

Have you tried disabeling your firewall? I recently installed win 7 and when i started up PMS the firewall asked if a wanted to allow Java. So mayby your firewall is blocking Java.

You are my savure! There is definitely something with the firewall. After disabling it i am getting a connection with my PS3. Thought i tried this before, but i guess i didn't.
