Windows 7 & PS3MS

Postby Dark_Wizard » Mon Aug 10, 2009 1:40 pm

I am wanting to upgrade my Vista Ultimate 64 to Windows 7 Ultimate 64 RTM (fresh install and I am a MSDN subscriber) and wanted to know if anyone else is using this OS with PS3MS. Here are the specs to my system:

    AMD X2 4600
    Asus A8N32-SLI Deluxe Mobo
    6GB Ram
    Nvidia GeForce 7800 GT
    Creative Audigy 2ZS
    All HDD's are SATA 2

I wanted to know what I need to install prior to PS3MS i.e. Codecs, Codec Packs Java, etc...also how well can I expect 1080p to run on this setup? Windows 7 from what I am reading is great regarding video rendering and audio playback. Any thoughts/suggestions? Right now my Vista will not playback 1080p without the buffering issue but plays back 720p perfectly. I also have CoreAVC Pro as well.

AMD X2 4600 2,4GHz is too weak for transcoding 1080p.
Windows 7 has different behaviour regarding codec priority which might prevent CoreAVC from doing its job. More infos here: http://windows7news.com/tag/coreavc/
If you want to use CoreAVC in PMS you also have to install Avisynth and vsfilter. Read howto: http://otmanix.de/english/2009/06/01/java-ps3-media-server-for-dummies-chapter-5-videolan-and-avisynth/
I provide NO application support via PM, so please post your question to the forum.
