Binary subtitles support (.sup)?

Postby oldjoe1 » Sun Aug 02, 2009 5:00 pm

Hi,

I am wondering if PS3 Media Server supports binary subtitles (.sup files) in any regards. Here's what I am trying to do:

I have ripped a movie (m2ts) and subtitle (sup), trying to stream through PMS version 1.10.51 to the PS3. Both files have the same name. Movie works fine, but subtitles does not show when playing the movie. Trying to transcode using Mencoder.
I am streaming other movies with subtitles fine with PMS, such as matroska with internal subtitles and also external subtitles in srt format.

Alternatively, any way presentation graphic streams can be read directly from m2ts, like streams are read from mkvs?

SUP = VobSub = Use AviSynth
Check the PMS readme for directions on what to install to get AviSynth working with PMS.

I've followed the somewhat vague directions in the readme, but it says "This engine is not loaded" when I try to enable Avisynth/MEncoder engine.
I already have ffdshow, avisynth, hali splitter, and vobsub installed, but changed some options per the readme.

Do I need to copy something somewhere?

You'll need need to copy the VSfilter.dll file to the AviSynth plugin directory, but that shouldn't be preventing PMS from recognizing your AviSynth install. Have you restarted PMS, and what does it say under the Traces for registering Avisynth?

Looks like Avisynth was the culprit. I reinstalled it and now PMS detects it.
Also installed VSfilter.dll into the Avisynth plugin directory.

Alas, still no subtitles show up. This is what I set per the readme:

ffdshow->audio decoder configuration->mixer->3/0/2 - 5 channels + LFE
hali media splitter->autoload vs filter -> yes

(not sure if relevant, but put it anyway)
hali media splitter->subtitle language priority->eng
hali media splitter->audio and subtitle languages->eng
hali media splitter->match subtitle track name to audio->yes
