MPEG 2 instead of AVC

Postby andyneouk » Thu Jul 16, 2009 4:19 pm

Hi guys,

Recently downloaded PS3 Media Server and it has been brilliant - spent ages mucking around with tvesrsity with no luck but this worked first time.

Ive now got a problem with transcoding MKV to a PS3: When i browse to the files on my pc through the ps3 then copy it to the HDD (of the ps3) the file copies as an MPEG2 and it is at least 4 times the size that it was on my pc. i.e. a MKV of 1.09GB on the PC is 4.7GB on the PS3.

When i first installed the program the MKV's were copying to the ps3 as AVC files and they were fine but i have no idea why they are now MPEG2 of a massive size

Does anyone have any idea why its doing this and how do i change back to AVC?

Thanks in advance.

by default, the AVC video track will be kept if:
1- there's no subtitles (internal or external)
2- the AVC video track is H264 L4.1 compatible

otherwise, a mpeg2 transcode will be started
