CoreAVC works on PC, but not on Xbox 360?

Postby trence » Wed Jul 15, 2009 3:32 am

Hi all, I have followed the various guides I have seen trying to get CoreAVC to work properly. I have Avisynth, Haali, CoreAVC, and FFDshow installed. I have 264 decoding disabled in FFDshow, and MKV files work just fine on my PC. When I try to play them using the Avisynth/MEncoder, it pops up on the Xbox saying the file isn't supported. Any ideas?

Also, using Graphstudio it shows video to CoreAVC and audio to ffdshow audio decoder.

Does MEncoder alone work?

Yes, but my 1080 sources stutter a lot when I transcode them with it, even though my buffer is sufficient.

Are you using wireless or wired? Buffer enough and still shuttering can mean your network is limiting you.

I don't know why using MEncoder works but not coreAVC... someone else could help you.

Is it gigabit or 100mbps? if it's the later one, then you can try lowering the maximum bandwidth.

It's 100mbps as far as I know. FFmpeg and Avisynth working would fix the problem wouldn't it? Do I need to enter anything into the big box that says

#AviSynth script is now fully customisable !
#You must use the following variables ("clip" being the avisynth variable of the movie):
#<movie>: insert the complete DirectShowSource instruction [ clip=DirectShowSource(movie, convertfps) ]
#: insert the complete TextSub/VobSub instruction if there's any detected srt/sub/idx/ass subtitle file
#<moviefilename>: variable of the movie filename, if you want to do all this by yourself
#Be careful, the custom script MUST return the clip object
<movie>
<sub>
return clip

If so, please let me know what to enter. Also, should I have the Enable Variable Framerate box ticked?

I leave that box as it is and it's working fine on my setup (PC->gigabit->Ps3).

This was in my program's log

[win32/mencoder.exe] TRACE 16:14:06.812 Process C:\Program Files\PS3 Media Server\win32\mencoder.exe has a return code of 1! Maybe an error occured... check the log file

Might this give you all any more ideas?
