Can't play H264 based mov file

Postby hk007 » Wed Jul 08, 2009 4:58 am

I am trying to play HD mov file created by Canon Rebel T1i DSLR camera. TSMuxer or MEncoder do not work. I have also tried from #transcode# folder but still no luck. I always get Data not supported.

Any ideas? Is the mono audio causing issues? Here is the MediaInfo detail:

If it helps.. here are some sample videos I found online that are made using the same camera:

Thanks,
Haris.

I have the same camera (bought last week), its called the 500D over here.

I have been able to play these files via transcoding, I'm using one of the beta builds of PMS atm. I havent tried the latest official release.
I believe that PMS only re-muxes the video, while the audio (original 1-ch PCM) is converted to AC3. (or is it AAC?)

One problem was still audiosync, all HD MOV-files (trailers) is playing with very bad audio-sync for me right now.
I have not done any more testing to see how to easily fix it.

I did an experiment and found out that the audio is causing the issue. I took the video stream out of the mov file using MP4Box and created an mp4 file without any audio track. PS3MS streamed this audio-less file without any issue - no transcoding required. When I play the original file with mono pcm sound track it doesn't work. in the trace/logs it shows that TSMuxer had an error while trying to work/open this file.
Is there a new version of TSMuxer in the beta build? I will give it a shot later today when i get home. now back to work... :)

The latest build worked! I can play (remux - no transcode) all my Rebel T1i/500D HD movies now! No audio sync issues at all.

I love PS3MS!!! It can play every single media file I have on my PC on my PS3 without transcoding (with the exception of 2-3 Mkvs -- and those 2-3 mkvs transcode without any issue with excellent quality).

Thanks!
