Initial setup issues

Postby straytalk » Sun Jun 21, 2009 2:56 am

So I was initally trying to get my xbox 360 to play my videos but there were a host of issues so i decided to try out my ps3. That is when I stumbled on this software which seemed to be what i was looking for. I installed it but it seems the software cant see my ps3 but when i am in my ps3 it can see the media server but when i click it is just a blank screen instead of a list of locations on my HDD. The ps3 is set on wireless mode and i do have ports setup properly. Any ideas?

Did you add folders you want share to the "Navigation/Share Settings" in the bottom? Hit the green plus button and share the folders where your divx/dvd isos/mkv/whatever files are located.

Its set to all drives but i tried it set to a a specific drive. I will try it with a specific folder with all the files in it instead of a folder with subfolders full of videos.

So I am taking a look at the debug file. I am seeing communication from the ps3 on multiple lines. I am seeing things like

[Thread-9] DEBUG 01:10:35.383 Receiving a NOTIFY from [192.168.1.17:64466] (this is the ip address for the ps3)

as well as

[Thread-356] DEBUG 01:11:00.813 Received on socket: GET /description/fetch HTTP/1.1
[Thread-356] DEBUG 01:11:00.813 Received on socket: Host: 192.168.1.7:5001
[Thread-356] DEBUG 01:11:00.813 Received on socket: Date: Sun, 21 Jun 2009 05:18:14 GMT
[Thread-356] DEBUG 01:11:00.813 Received on socket: User-Agent: UPnP/1.0
[Thread-356] DEBUG 01:11:00.813 Received on socket: X-AV-Client-Info: av=5.0; cn="Sony Computer Entertainment Inc."; mn="PLAYSTATION 3"; mv="1.0";

But PMS still says PS3 has not been found. Is it on?

What version are you using? I noticed when I had PS3MS installed as a service under version 1.10.51 it always said my PS3 wasn't found, even though it was streaming to it. I uninstalled the service (and PS3MS); then re-installed 1.10.51 (yeah I know - not the newest one - I had stuttering problems on 1.11.345).

If PS3MS is showing up under the XMB it is definitely talking to the PS3. Have you tried enabling the media library? Just a thought...

I thought I'd try that on a whim and nothing worked and I changed the directory to one with and without subfolders nothing helped. I will try a different version though. What kinda conflicts would Vista be causing if any, i have vista ultimate and im running on 64 bit architecture if that helps

FWIW, I just got the latest version of PMS running to my XBox 360 and my host computer is running the 64-bit version of Vista Ultimate. So I think you're in the clear as far as OS support goes...

Did you "Run as Administrator" on the installer?
