1080p stuttering help

Postby heddhunter » Wed Jun 17, 2009 1:03 am

OK I've got a 1080p file that I would like to watch on my PS3. My PC and my PS3 are connected via wired ethernet (through a couple of switches). My PC is an AMD XP 4200+. I should have plenty of network and cpu juice, right? I can't get it to work at all. It plays for a split second, then pauses for 5-10 seconds, then plays again. I turned the network bandwidth limit down to 15 but no difference.

Is there any way to play 1080p over the network without transcoding? I don't want subtitles.

Here's what mediainfo says about the file:

This is probably not the solution you want but i had issues with 1080p mkv videos stuttering and sometimes black screenas well. So i gave up and used mkv2vob to remux to .mpg (takes less than 2 minutes if no transcode) then i use ps3 media server to stream it and all videos playback flawlessy and FF/RW works great as well. And i'm using an old PC as my media server P4 3.2Ghz single core 1GB Ram (don't want to wste repurces on my main PC), and it works flawlessy

just a suggestion

@heddhunter: with this specific video you will need to do a full transcode since the PS3 only supports upto L4.1 video, not 5.1. With a wired network you want to set the max bandwidth setting to 90-95mbps. However, not sure if your 2.2GHz dual core will be enough to do a lossless 1080P transcode, so try decreasing the output video quality settings if it's still stuttering after upping the max bandwidth setting.
I provide NO application support via PM or email, so please post your question to the forum per the Forum Rules.
