Recommend router for 1080 streaming

Postby Spawn3585 » Tue Jun 09, 2009 10:04 am

Under $100 please.

I have a Linksys WRT54G router, ethernet 54Mbits which 720 runs but never 1080. My computer is decent with 2.20 GHz Dual Core, 3.25 GB ram, Win XP & CCCP. So I'm assuming I need a better router? That Linksys router is junk anyway, it will always randomly stop working saying "Different Network Detected" & other problems...

~ Thanks

End of the day the PS3 only has 54mb wifi so what ever router you use isn't really going to improve things a great deal.

If you can't use wired Ethernet (which would cheaply resolve your problems) why not take a look at spending the money on some homeplug/powerline adpators

I have a Linksys WRT54GL with Tomato firmware which runs amazingly good for all videos including 1080p.
I use the wired ports of the router to connect my PC (PSM) with the PS3. Even with the wireless you should be fine.

Are you sure it is your network and not your PC?

Based on your hardware I think it is not your network but your PC. Try using Avisynth and CoreAVC for you 1080p.
I can assure you you will see much of a difference.

Also try use tsMuxer if you do not need subtitles for your 1080p. Much much faster.
