Audio pass through to amp

Postby nashmills » Fri Jun 05, 2009 5:54 pm

I have been converting some of my blu-ray disks to mkv recently in order to stream them using this excellent program. I have come across a small problem that I hope someone can help me resolve.

DTS audio is passed straight through to my amp for decoding by my PS3 whereas Dolby Digital is decoded by the PS3 and passed to my amp as PCM. The former sounds much better.

If I convert the Dolby Digital encoded files to an AVCHD disc the Dolby soundtrack is passed straight through to my amp and sounds great.

Is there any way to configure my setup so that the streamed DD files play correctly?

I don't know if an AC3 encapsulation into a PCM fake track is possible (like it's used for the DTS part)... someone needs to try :p
