AC3 with avisynth/mencoder won't work

Postby djkrizz » Mon Jun 01, 2009 1:21 pm

Hi,

PS3 Media Server is doing absolutely fine for me, except that with playing Xvid movie files with AC3-audio, it won't start. I'm using subtitles and the funny thing is, without subtitles, it works ok.

I'm using the AviSynth/Mencoder method with external .srt subs. It seems it hangs on the audio transcoding, since I see multiple AC3 or FFDaudio-icons expanding in the system bar. Both FFDaudio and AC3Filter won't work, except when I set the settings to stereo. But I want 5.1! I can't figure out why it hangs with subs and does fine without...

This is my PS3 Media Server debug.log output with an AVI file including AC3 and external subs:

My operating system is Windows Vista x64 SP1 and I'm using the Shark007 codec pack, including both 32- and 64-bit codecs.

Yep, streaming to a Xbox 360. Which is connected with a TOS optical cable to a 5.1-receiver.

And why does it work without subs? And with transcoding software like TVersity?

Hmm, perhaps any chance it will be built-in in a upcoming release?
