Lose Sound when Transcoding

Postby garlik_bread » Sat May 23, 2009 8:51 pm

Hi, i've been pointed here by meskibob @ AVFORUMS.

When transcoding an MP4, picture comes through perfectly, very smooth. Sound is fine for 30 seconds then cuts off, though the picture carries on playing fine. If i use the PS3 'go to' function the sound will return for another 30 seconds then off again. Having tested it today, it only seems to happen when using MEndcoder or Tsmuxer. AVISynth/FFmpeg was OK.

I think this may have been addressed before?

Attached is the output.txt (zipped) for the file in question.

You attached the MediaInfo output, but we also need the debug.log file ;)

Right, i presume i would need to play the file and encounter problems then send the debug.log? I found the file in c:\program files\ps3mediaserver but it only has info as of when i turned on the server today.

I will get the full log tomorrow. thanks :)

Ok, here is the debug.log contained within the zip.

Picture is 100%. Sound just dies after 30 or so seconds, my Amp usually diplays 2.1 but once the sound goes, it doesnt display anything and the PS3 Audio Mbps is -

Thanks

try reducing the audio bitrate (ex: to 256 kbps)

Tested that today using MEncoder. Skipped to 15 mins in and the sound had gone by 15:45.

I did notice this line though:

[main] TRACE 18:31:53.661 !!! It seems VSFilter.dll is not installed into the AviSynth plugins dir ! It could be troublesome for playing subtitled videos with AviSynth !!!

Now the film DOES have a subs folder, though i dont know if they're being used or not? Could it be linked?
