I've been reading quite a few posts on this forum and tried a lot of different settings to get my streaming to work properly.
Everything works well except for 1080p streaming. It seems the transcoding is not able to fill my buffer before its empty and
the video starts stuttering.
Here's my setup :
Sun Ultra 24 Workstation
QuadCore 2,4Ghz CPU
4 gigs ram
Gigabit network (full duplex in both ends)
PS3 Media Server 1.10.5
Here's my CURRENT ps3mediaserver settings (I've tried a lot of different stuff):
thumbnails = true
mencoder_ass = true
network_interface = eth0
folders = \/raid
mencoder_sublangs = nor,eng,fre,jpn,ger
mencoder_audiolangs = eng,fre,jpn,ger
maxvideobuffer = 600
usecache = true
nbcores = 4
audiochannels = 6
mencoder_encode = keyint=1:vqscale=1:vqmin=2
audiobitrate = 640
forcetranscode = mkv
When I'm watching htop (a prettier top) I can see that sometimes one of the core reaches almost 100%, but the others are fine.
Even if i set a lower quality, like the one best fit for wifi ....it still starts to stutter (just takes a bit longer before it does so).
I never run out of memory, so there's no swapping going on.
I dont really see any errors in my debug.log so I'm not sure if there's a point of posting it at all?
From what I can understand, my setup is strong enough to handle this transcoding, but it sure doesnt, so I can only
imagine that I failed at config something right.
Any ideas, input?
Thanks in advance!
