Quick question regarding wired connection

Postby Zoran » Thu May 07, 2009 3:30 am

As the title says, I got a quick question regarding setting up a wired connection. Because my computer is on the opposite end of the house from my PS3, I've been using a wireless connection to stream my media (there's no easy way to route an ethernet cord). Obviously this leaves a little to be desired in terms of quality when streaming 720p content. That being said, I'm thinking of just using an ethernet cord from my computer to the tv (I'll just leave it in the hallways) when I want to watch something and disconnect it when I'm not using it. For internet, I'll still use the wireless. Would this be possible?

The only reason I ask is I'm not sure if you need to go through the router regardless if you're using the internet or not (I just want to use the wired connection for media). Thanks in advance.
