"User-Agent: Windows Media Player Network Sharing Service/1.0"

1- where is your ps3 ? :D
2- you didn't launch any videos in this debug session, cannot really help

Oh, I guess I didn't realize the debug cleared itself out every time you ran the program.

I'll fire it all back up and post an updated one.

Here is a new one: debug_2.log.

I tried to play an XviD video that I know the PS3 supports and shouldn't have to be transcoded (I can play this video from a USB hard drive attached to the PS3) and I tried to play an x264 that I believe has to be transcoded (the PS3 doesn't even display this file when I try to find it on a USB attached HD).

that's weird... basically the ps3 accepts the first ~400k and then cut the connection... (and transcode is working cause the buffer fills up)
imho, it's a weird network problem or it's ps3 related ... have you tried any other servers ?

I would suggest to review each element of your setup (computer, network , then ps3)... a network issue would be my first guess

Maybe I'm just not giving it enough time to transcode? How long should a typical hour long video take?

no, you definitely have a specific streaming/network problem, you can wait a year if you want to :)
ps3 kills the connection and that's it...

I have the same problem on some files....tried to tune the max bandwidth, and buffer size, but it does not change anything...
Other files pass ok, either without or with transcoding, but on this files (which need transcoding, else I got the "data type is not supported" PS3 error), blank screen and debug.log indeed tells that the connection has been closed.
pms1.0" on ubuntu interpid 64 bits here...

PS: untar the debug.tgz into debug.log, the forum is quite finicky about file extensions: no .log, no .txt :(

I'm using a 1TB Western Digital MyBook connected via USB to store all the media that I'm sharing through the PS3 Media Server. Is there anyway that the problem could be USB-related?
