Strictly speaking yes you are correct.

Over a short run Cat5e will be fine though and as yet i haven't found anything that won't stream. I think the PS3 processing is now holding things up

One thing you might notice, if you look at the activity lights on the ps3, is that the network activity seems to be very "bursty", and that might cause some problems
Don't know exactly if it's ps3's fault or not.

1) Connect the PS3's ethernet port to one of the router's LAN ports using an ethernet cable.
2) Go to the PS3's network settings and tell it to use the Wired connection (see the PS3 manual for more details)
3) Connect the laptop's ethernet port to another one of the router's LAN ports using an ethernet cable.
4) Disable the Wireless NIC on your laptop and enable the ethernet NIC (example of how to do this on WinXP: http://www.home-network-help.com/disable-network.html)

Was rather busy lately, and didn't had time to try it out.

Just to confirm, I need 2 Ethernet cables right?

Got it working at last.

SLIGHT PROBLEM THOUGH!

Yesterday, I tried copying a 15GB .mkv file and it took 30 mins. The speed was amazing, 10mb/s on a direct wired connection.

Today, when I tried copying a 12GB .mkv file, it took like only 2mb/s...Its also on wired ethernet connection.
Is it because of the file that I was trying to transcode? Or what?

Help me out please!
