PMS wont detect after access granted

Postby maxmc87 » Thu Apr 24, 2014 4:47 am

I have been using PMS for a while now with much success and the issues I do have are found on the boards. My version was working perfectly until I upgraded from Windows 8 to 8.1. Now my system will grant access to my ps3 when i search for servers, but will not actually detect it for another 30 minutes. It will never reconnect. The only time it actually comes quickly is when it loads from a system restart. I have since reloaded Java a few times with no success. I have the default render set to Playstation 3. Here is my debug file. Can anyone help? Sorry for the essay, this is my first post and I don't want to skimp the important details.

Hello,
actually, I think I've got the very same issue here.
Everything was running fine (for almost a whole year)... and bam : it seems the Windows 8.1 update stroke me today.
And PMS doesn't see my PS3 anymore (access granted in windows firewall, Java up to date, forced port to 6001 or 9001 without effect...)
Nothing have changed these days but the Windows version (and maybe the OS update of my iPhone 4 this morning).
The ending of my logs are the same :

Are we in trouble because of one of these updates ?
Is a future PMS update will be needed ?
Thanks for the help.

Hello again,
I dig up this thread to bend down before all of you, as the noob I am...
I finally figured out what (maybe) have occurred here :
The Windows update - or a pure coincidence ? I don't think so... - anyway, this UPDT have "broke" the link between my PC & my PS3.
In fact, the link between my 2 CPL boxes ! I didn't noticed that since my internet connection (for my PC) is secured by an automatic WIFI link.
Yes... I know...
I did restart, last week, my internet box & my PC before figuring that, but without effect.
It's just this morning I noticed my PC was in fact connected to internet by WIFI, and not by my CPL system. And that was it...
I switched physically the 2 boxes one by the other and : BINGO !
This misadventure may help few people here. I hope so !

I'm glad for you! Unfortunately, my computer is connected the traditional way through a modem and router. I will try to work on it this coming weekend but if anyone has suggestions between now and then, I'd love to hear them! Thanks all!!

So I figured out that it was ZoneAlarm firewall that was messing it up. For whatever reason, it won't allow it...even if you disable the firewall. You;d either have to close the program down or uninstall it. I switched to Comodo. Hope this helps others!
