When running PS3 Media Server, is the shared media only accessible to the PS3? I want to limit it only to the PS3 and not shared across the other computers on the network for privacy reasons..

Use firewall rules 
In WINDOWS add rule on port 5001 or application(javaw.exe or wrapper.exe if you use service) to be NOT blocked and before save(OK) click on Change/edit xxxx....(on the below left). Here change first default option to the last one. Type IP of PS3. Do it for both TCP/UDP protocol.
