Cannot get PMS Optimized

Postby ipr549 » Wed Dec 11, 2013 6:56 am

I am trying to stream videos from my PC to my PS3 through my home network. PMS installed fine on my PC and I was able to get my PS3 and PC to see each other over the network. I shared the folders with my desired media and I can view them by browsing the media server on my PS3. I choose a video and hit play. The video tends to be okay for periods of minutes at a time, then problems start.

The audio will cut out and fall behind the video. The video will stutter and fall behind the audio. Any combination of these and then the PS3 gives up and quits the video, bringing me back into browsing the folder. I have become very frustrated trying to figure this out on my own over the past few days... Here are most of the settings I have toyed with and the problem persists:

My default renderer is set to PlayStation 3
I have tried changing the buffer size - 200,400,600mb
I have tried changing the cpu threads - 2,4,6
I have subtitles hard disabled
I have set transcode quality down to "keyint=25:vqmax=7:vqmin=2"
I have listed these extension under "skip transcoding" = mp4,avi
I have checked and unchecked "Keep AC-3 tracks"

And various combinations thereof.

PLEASE help me optimize my PMS configuration so I can enjoy my videos (.avi & .mp4) without this frustration!

Here is my physical setup:

Intel Core i7 4770 3.4ghz
Windows 7 Professional 64bit
16gb DDR3 1600 RAM
(let me know if any other hardware is relevant)

Cisco DPC3825 router/modem combo (IEEE 802.11n)

PS3 Slim 500gb - software version 4.50

PC <---wired ethernet---> router <---wireless---> PS3
