Recently MEncoder simply stopped working, I cant tie it to any update because it was working just fine after 1.90.1 came out, i was using it repeatedly and even used it when setting up the transcode settings which is why i can confidently say that MEncoder was playing my Hobbit file(MKV) without issue. However i had sound sync issues with another file which prompted me to switch over to tsMuxer, since the switch back i have not been able to watch anything (MKV) with mencoder, the files fail to load and i get the error message on my ps3.
I have tried loading up 1.90.0, still doesnt work, i cleared all of the files from PMS on my computer and did a fresh install of 1.90.1, still didnt work, and then i tried the 1.90.2 thats currently up for testing, and it still didnt work.
since i just recently cleared the computer and reinstalled 1.90.1, i dont have a debug file with a failure on it yet, i will upload the file once i get the failures again.
Without mencoder i have begun to use tsmuxer. It plays the mkv files alright but it does freeze and exit the file after about 35 minute, then again after a reload and ffwd to the part i left off at after another 35 minutes or so. this is an annoyance but only a minor one. but since it does happen i figure its worth mentioning.
I have thrown up FFmpeg as an engine and it plays the files fine, i havent left it on long to see if it freezes up after a while, but it definitely doesnt allow me to ffwd or rewind, so that might be something to look into.
I have learned a little information regarding the three engines which i figure i may as well pass on:
MEncoder - allows FFWD and REW, allows use of SQUARE on the PS3 (it lets you go forward and back on the file with a little thumbnail of the video at the time you go to)
tsMuxer - allows FFwd and REW, no SQUARE on the ps3
FFmpeg - NO FFWD or REW
im going to run a movie with mencoder to get that failure and one with tsmuxer to get that failure and then ill upload it or follow whatever instructions i get on this posting from a developer.
