Font problems

Postby Fixet » Thu Aug 08, 2013 8:13 pm

I'm totally stranded here! I had been using PMS version 1.50 for a very long time, without problems. Couple of days ago this one file started to lag / pause when jumping to different part of the movie. I decided to give version 1.90 a try since I was using a very old version. Well, it was a bad idea. Subtitles didn't show up, movies were lagging etc. I then went to version 1.51 and everything seems to be quite good, but the font is giving me a headache. It seems that I had a different font type in use with 1.50, though I hadn't touched those font settings before, it was using the default one. But now the font type is different and not a very good looking. I've tried to change that truetype font setting to different font but it isn't working. subtitles didn't show up and the movie started to lag. I'm not going to back to 1.90 since it isn't working like it should. But could somebody give me instructions how to get PMS to identify new font to be used? I'm using pms.bat so apparently I have to add a command there?? Thank you in advance!

I have unchecked ASS / fontconfig / use embedded -settings, and tried to use truetype font verdana bold. The movie starts but it pauses and doesn't show any subtitles. This is taken from debug.log, if somebody knows what's wrong, I'd appreciate it!

Ok, I got this one solved! There was a space in font name and that's why Media server couldn't find the file. I took the space off and it started to work.

I may have found another bug. The font I was using was located in my desktop. I decided to move the font to my PMS folder and located the file via PMS. To my surprise, there were no subtitles in movie and the movie was out of sync and after that it went to pause. But it found it when I moved it back to desktop. Debug.log said it was trying to find the file from folder "Files" etc. but it should be "Program files". If i'm correct here, there's something wrong how the program reads folder names. Something to do with folder name with spaces? I'm using version 1.51 so I don't know if 1.90 is having this same problem.

Indeed, sounds like a similar problem: "Program files" contains a space.
Have you tried the snapshot build?
