Java takes up huge amounts of memory

Postby QuestionMark » Sun Jul 28, 2013 1:28 pm

Hello, whenever I try to stream a file to my ps3 that needs to be transcoded, Java takes up huge amounts of memory. I know that others have had this problem as well, but I've never read a good solution for this. I'm thinking of switching to Plex for a mediaserver, however if someone has a good solution for this I don't have to switch, which is what I would prefer. Anyone?

I have created a proof of concept solution that uses barely any memory.
See the network throughput thread, you will have to build it yourself.

Hi Raptor399, I look forward to testing this to see if it works, but I have no idea how to "build" it. Could you tell me how I can do that?

Well, unfortunately that's all Chinese to me. Honestly haven't a clue where to start or what to do and what not to do...

Well that is unfortunate. It is the best step-by-step description I can provide.
If that is too complex to follow, then you're probably better off not attempting to build PMS.
