Same problem here (using Build 625). PMS detects that subs are available, but doesn't show them.

Subtitle priority is "eng, ger", Audio/Subtitle priority is blank, and there's a mark at "Load *.srt/*.sub...".

Files have the same name, of course...

Any idea? Thanks in advance!

I have two movies with idx/sub subtitles and when i go to #transcode# and open the files with aviSynth/Mencoder, it says "corrupted data" in both cases.

Of course i have vsfilter.dll in the avysinth/plugin folder and the Traces says there is nothing wrong. There is an error about the failing Mencoder and that i should check the log file.

Here is the relevant part of the logfile:

Re: .Sub subtitles files dosent work..

Postby Burrito » Mon Apr 20, 2009 12:47 am

Okay, after installing both Haali Media Splitter and ffdshow tryout the movie plays with subtitles when manually transcoding using AviSynth/Mencoder!

1. Can someone explain why i need Haali and ffdshow with AviSynth/Mencoder?
2. How can i select which subtitle i want to use? There are four subtitles in my .sub file for this movie and the first one is chinese, which is useless for me.

Okay, thanks for the friendly slap on the head! ;)

I found the relevant part:

B) Using Avisynth/FFDshow. Paired with CoreAVC, it's quite efficient with multi cores.
1- If not already done, get and install a codec pack with ffdshow (VSfilter must be included for subtitles).
My favorite is CCCP Codec Pack [http://www.cccp-project.net/download.php?type=cccp]
2- Get and install AVISynth 2.5.7 (I've met some framerate problems with 2.5.8 betas)
3- Set up the FFDShow Audio Mixer to 5.1 (3/0/2 LFE)
4- Set "Autoload VS Filter" to true
5- Configure Haali Splitter (audio/subtitles language priorities)

Regarding 4) - maybe shagrath, you could add that the "Autoload VS Filter" option is in the Haali configuration?

So i need to install avisynth, then copy vsfilter to the avisynth folder, then install ffdshow with vsfilter and then enable vsfilter inside Haali...can someone explain what is really needed or what depends on what here. I just would like to know how things really work and understandt...i feel a little at lost with this subtitle thing and most of the stuff i tried was trial and error.

What I remember there is 2 possibilities mentioned in these two docs. Prefered one using MEncoder(no codec installation needed) or AVISYNTH(splitters and audio/video codecs needed)
First one is prefered because you don't mess up with codec configuration/problems and also more features available when MEncoder used.
Use avisynth only when you have some problems with tsMuxeR/MEncoder ;)
