HELP: PMS stopped working! Windows 7

Postby mehrabi » Fri Apr 26, 2013 5:07 am

Hi all,

PMS (ver 1.80.0) was fully operational and fine until the other day where it started acting up. I tried digging through the log files and found this:

DEBUG 2013-04-25 20:45:11.514 [UPNP-AliveMessageSender] Sending ALIVE...
DEBUG 2013-04-25 20:45:11.514 [UPNP-AliveMessageSender] Error sending ALIVE message
java.io.IOException: No usable network interface found for UPnP multicast
at net.pms.network.UPNPHelper.getNewMulticastSocket(UPNPHelper.java:211) ~[pms.jar:1.81.0]
at net.pms.network.UPNPHelper.sendAlive(UPNPHelper.java:171) ~[pms.jar:1.81.0]
at net.pms.network.UPNPHelper$1.run(UPNPHelper.java:328) [pms.jar:1.81.0]
at java.lang.Thread.run(Unknown Source) [na:1.7.0_21]

Updating to 1.81.0 did not help. Any ideas? I am running this on Windows 7 connecting to the router via wifi and the router is connected to the tv via wires but these have not changed the last few days so I am assuming that something happened in the Windows configs that messed it up!

Regards.

Check if the Win 7 Windows Media Service got started (run services.msc). If so, disable.

Couldn't find windows media service, instead found "Windows Media Player Network Sharing Service" disabling which did not solve the problem :(

Interesting!
Thank you for posting.

I am interested in seeing what network interfaces PMS discovers on your computer.
Can you enable full logging as explained at the bottom of the FAQ post below, and then post the resulting trace log?

FAQ: How can I supply details to help diagnose my problem?

Same issue here.
When i set 'Force IP of the server' - in General Confguration - to my desktop IP, it became alive again.

When i set 'Force IP of the server' - in General Confguration - to my desktop IP, it became alive again.

This solution worked for me as well.
(one can look up his/her PC's IP address using ipconfig on the command prompt. I used the "IPv4 address". Saved. Re-started server)
