1.80.0 - Only detecting WMP, no PS3 :-( - Please Help

Postby swamanator » Sun Apr 14, 2013 6:04 pm

Hi Guys,

Have been using PS3 MS for as long as I can remember and every time there is a update or full upgrade I always run into problems. Just a few weeks back I had a stupid java error and now after upgrading to the most recent I am not able to detect the PS3 on my network.

I always seem to have this problem and after minor tweeks the program starts to work again. I would really appreciate if someone could take a look at my log and help me out. I have tried to search around and play with the settings, firewall, everything myself, but no luck.

-So far I have port forwarded 6001 - no luck
-Allowed PS3 MS through firewall - no luck
-Turned OFF firewall - no luck

Thanks

Had the same issue. Reverted to 1.7.1 which is working without fault. Something in a Win7 update must have broken something in 1.8.0. Try it if you feel inclined.

I'm in the same boat, I've tried all sorts of variations of PMS/Java releases and nothing works. I have been using PMS flawlessly for years but this past few days there seems to be no official fix.

After updating i had the same problem. After uninstalls, checking forums, messing with router settings, and trying many other things i finally got mine to work. Almost irritating how easy it was....
I went to network settings on the ps3, disabled media renders then re enabled them. Bingo, well for me at least.
Hope this can help someone else! :D

I finally got it working...sort of. Updated VLC to most recent, go to windows firewall and put PS3 Media Server as well as Java (I have 3 Java's listed) in the exceptions. PSM finally shows up on my PS3 but now the videos are skipping...

There are FAQs for stuttering and skipping.

^ Thanks, after reading through that I have decided to use my Win7 laptop for PMS rather than my old desktop. However I did get the skipping to stop on my XP desktop by downgrading PMS to 1.30.1.
