1.72 Unable to play videos with SRT files

After the upgrade to the latest version, PS3 does not play video files (avi, mp4) which have SRT files with the same name existing in the folder. Previous version used to be play the video with subtitles. But now, i get a "content cannot be played 800288E1" error. SRT is in utf8 encoding. I have tried uninstalling and installing the media server on my windows laptop. The same videos which used to play in the older version do not play now. Please help!
