Im still stuck on not getting my ps3 to show up on the media share. I go into ps3 media share open it up and the big red X appears when it seems like two weeks ago my system was recognized. I have a feeling that this was due to the java update, that almost everyone is having problems with. So to continue the troubleshooting i go into media server program go into general configuration, i go to the force port of the server (5001 by default): so what do i type there 1900? (1900 by default): Im lost......... and when i click the force network on interface i get bombarded with a list of options to WAN miniports to Intel stuff...Any help much appreciated.

So i entered in the force port to server 1900. Then i also clicked the box that says "force default render". I do get something to show up but its not my ps3 just an unknown renderer.

I recently started having the same problem. I have been using PMS for everything from 3d movies - pictures etc for months without any issues. Randomly a few weeks ago it stopped connecting to the PS3, I went through and made sure settings were correct and havent made any changes to my PS3 or my computer to warrant the issue. After racking my brain trying to figure out what is going on ( I would consider myself to have intermediate networking knowledge) checked firewall settings, made sure port was forwarded, was able to ping the ip of the PS3 from my computer, reinstalled PMS, etc.

I decided to load PMS on my Mac laptop just to see if I could get it to work on a different computer, I loaded it up (my laptop was connected to the network wirelessly) and found the PS3 and was able to navigate my folders on the Mac from the PS3. I then connected my laptop to the router via ethernet cable because I wanted to increase the throughput since I was going to be watching a HD movie, when I plugged the laptop in and turned off the wireless connection I could no longer connect to my PS3.... switch back to wireless and it shows up again.

I think it has something to do with ethernet connections, but I still cannot find a fix for this. Anyone know what could be causing this? seems to not connect when the PC running PMS is hooked up to the network via ethernet cable.

I think the PS3 is having trouble sending its SSDP search packets over the network, as mentioned elsewhere.

The network appears to be the problem; fix that and the search packets will reach PMS so it can set up a connection.

A recent java update cause javaw.exe to be used from java 7 rather than java 6 which it had been using. My firewall was allowing the version 6 through, but now I had to add a firewall exception to allow the version 7 file through. Problem started (and fixed) tonight.

My Win7 64bit, has the file here... C:\Program Files (x86)\Java\jre7\bin\javaw.exe

So if we just update java will it fix it? Or do we have to do it another way?
