I don't understand this at all

Postby angleman » Fri Jan 18, 2013 7:04 pm

I've looked at the FAQ i don't get it

I'm getting no renderers found and now when i do a search for media servers the ps3 can't even find the windows media player server i had set up.

I looked at the change settings in help but i don't even have that realtek thing that they show

You need to follow the After UDP Broadcast section of the connection FAQ and go through each of the help points - viewtopic.php?f=6&t=3507&p=32731#p34933
If you have a specific question over a specific help point, post it here. Please take the time to read each point thoroughly, and if there are terms you do not understand, try a Google search first.
I provide NO application support via PM or email, so please post your question to the forum per the Forum Rules.

Its going to be java. It's always java!!

Try uninstalling EVERY version of java installed. Look in C:\windows\system32 and remove all java.exe and javaw.exe appls.

Then uninstall PMS. Then delete every folder relating to PMS (C:\Users\All Users\PMS, C:\ProgramData\PMS, C:\Program Files\PS3 Media Server). Then Reboot.

This clears out java and PMS and those remnants which never get removed by the uninstallers.

Finally Install latest version of Java. Reboot.

Then Install latest version of PMS.

This may also be a PATH issue to the correct version of Java. Go into your computers 'system properties' 'advanced' then 'environment variables' then 'system variables' - scroll down to PATH and edit it, to make sure you add the path to the latest version of java installed (e.g. ;C:\Program Files\Java\jre6\bin - or whatever the latest version path is when java is installed) and make sure this entry is before the 'c:\windows\system32' entry)

Detection issues are less network-y and more java-y in my experience.

okay I went into windows firewall and saw that ps3 media server wasn't allowed so i changed that at it it worked for a couple of days. Then as I was watching something I got an error number that I didn't recognise and it stopped working.

If I disable my firewall the media server shows up on my PS3 but it still can't find a renderer . Any suggestion as what's going on with it now?

I noticed in your log file that no renderer name was given as being found. It should read something like this: "Renderer Sony Bravia 5500 found on this address: 192.168.0.102" but instead of sony your renderer name. What is your renderer?

I did all this. No luck with me

Was there a version of Java on there before it was upgraded - I found the only way to stay working, was to regress to the previous version (uninstall v7 and reinstall v6) and then turn off the java updater - when I run the previous version of java it all started working again
