Issues with Movie Playback

I have been having issues with playback of certain movies. Basically, in each case the video either freezes or displays discolored and pixilated. I ran a test by pausing the playback just before the moment that I know the video is going to freeze (it happens in the same place everytime without fail) for about 5 minutes. When I resumed playback the video did not freeze but instead it skipped to another part of the movie. I did try to increase the available heap size but that did not fix anything.
