Can not connect to PS3 anymore

Postby ecn113 » Tue Dec 11, 2012 3:32 pm

Hello,

I have used PMS for years but in the last six months have not. I now can not get any connection between my computer and the PS3 which used to be very easy.

I am connecting wireless and have a connection to the internet with the PS3. I am wondering if I need to mess with the port forwarding on both the router and Mcafee? I have looking at all the possible setting on the computer side. Here are the configs I have looked at and at the end of the post is the PMS log.

Windows UpnP device host service - Enabled
PS3 media server connection - Enabled
Mcafee firewall - Port 5001 added

Windows 7, 64-bit
PMS 1.72.0
Verizon FIOS router/modem
Wireless connection
Code: Select all

Please follow the FAQ - viewtopic.php?f=6&t=3507&start=20#p34933
Note that you're in the After UDP Broadcast section.

After much searching I found a forum explaining the issue. Issue is a setting in the FIOS router (Actiontec MI424-WR) which is blocking traffic.

Fix
Login to the router, Advanced -> Yes -> IPMG Proxy - Set IGMP Proxy (Enable/Disable): to Disable and save

That is already covered in the linked FAQ post under the router is blocking traffic header.

Day Late and a Dollar Short.... The only issue I had with the IGMP disable fix, was that the the newer firmware versions of the Verizon Fios Actiontec (Gen3 as some call it) 40.19.36 they do not have an allocation to turn off the IGMP. but if you

1. Log into router at http://192.168.1.1/
2. Open New Tab and paste http://192.168.1.1/index.cgi?active_page=6059

You then get to the "old firmware version page" to be able to disable IGMP where the PS3 Media Server begins to appear on the XMB again. I think I restarted my PS3 Media Server to see it reappear.
Either way, it was frusting looking for a way to fix this issue where having to backdoor a menu option that is no longer availible is only solution to date.

So thanks to those at http://forums.verizon.com/t5/FiOS-Inter ... d-p/452389 , for the link to get back a ' Lost ' menu option.
