Expert settings: Remux M4V

Postby CrispyXUK » Thu Apr 02, 2009 8:31 pm

Hello,

First, thanks for the wonderful software ;)

Ok, some help if I may? I'd like to make some settings for my M4V files, the all have 1 x h264 video track, 1 x AAC audio track and 1 x 5.1 AC3 audio track. Is it possible to create an expert setting to remux so that the AC3 audio is played by default? I need to remux as the PS3 seems to have a bug with M4V streaming that causes stuttering, remuxing fixes this issue and plays the AC3 sound to.

I beleive the setting to play the second AC3 audio track is -aid 2, but I failed in trying to use it.

I'm using the latest OSX beta with tsmuxer.

I've tried - container == m4v :: -aid 2 But PMS still sends the M4V as is.

Previous builds I could add -aid 2 to custom options, but this doesn't seem to work anymore.

They also have chapter markers the could be seen as subtitles, could this be causing my problem?

if you do not have languages codes defined in your file, it's difficult to select a priority audio track
I suggest to launch from the #transcoded# folder, there you can see all the audio tracks with their codec and choose the right one

about the muxing feature, keep in mind that remuxing H264 from a M4V file could be bogus, in terms of A/V sync (especially on NTSC videos)
you can disable the "switch to tsmuxer" option if anything goes wrong

I am using the transcoded folder at the moment, the missus doesn't understand it though :) Is there not a command I can use that does the same thing?

The only tracks in each file are English (Stereo) & English (Surround). They're Handbrake Universal rips of my DVDs

Is there a list of command I can use somewhere?

well, no, there's automatic support for language codes only, not audio codecs

Really? In earlir builds I could add "-aid 2" in the options and it would work.

well, since the audio/subs revamping (1.10), it's not working the same anymore, you can't override this param

I'll try to think about something

Cool, thanks.

I don't know too much about it, but these files have compatible Audio/Video streams, similar to you average MKV, could a setting be added to remux in a similar fashion? That would be wonderful if possible.

Sorry for the sneaky bump, could this be moved to requests? As it sort of is now :)
