Serious problems with V1.60 up to V1.71

Postby cyberangel » Wed Nov 07, 2012 5:19 pm

Seeing as the thread was locked, I have started a new thread.

First do not treat me like a second rate user, I have enough programming experience under my belt to know better.

So lets look at what the problem is.

Since V1.60 playback of movies and shows of mine have stopped working, I have also noticed that certain movies appear blocky (Which has been the case since I started using it) but have no idea why. I have tried the same files in so many other Media Servers, that all make PS3 MS seem like it is broken. That means that the same file that will not work in PS3 MS works in every other Media Server.

Now I have looked at and followed all the instructions that had been given to me, and found that still nothing was in the debug.log file to indicate the problem.

I know that I have enough ram, and network bandwidth because other Media Servers play the files fine, so that leaves the issue with PS3 MS.

If the developers are not keen in helping, then I can only assume that they have no clear idea what the problem is. And that leaves me with moving on to better software and support from the developers.

Since my files are on avg 7gb in size, and around 1gb for tv shows I think it was a bit much to ask for a sample file. Especially when I gave clear instructions on how to duplicate the blockiness of the picture.

Now when it comes to the skipping of the movie, I waited and noted the time that it happened and stopped the playback straight away. When I went to the debug log file all I see is this

And here is where I stopped playback, and as you can see there is nothing there to indicate why the playback skips.

I have tried to give you all the information you require, and have followed all the steps in the links to try to fix this problem. I am sorry to say that the issue is that something since V1.54 has broken this program.

Well I guess the developers are just not interested in fixing this, so maybe one day they will fix it. Till then the support on here is really in need of some attention, especially when someone like myself has gone through every thread, and tried every know tip or trick to fix this months before making a post.

If this is the type of support one is going to get then I wish the team all the best, one day you will wake up and realise that sometimes something is not covered in the FAQ's or tips and solutions.

If you really have enough programming experience under your belt you know exactly what the developers need to be able to help you. In order to be able to fix a problem, we need to be able to reproduce it ourselves.

There is a myriad of configurations out there, so we really need detailed information on your particular situation. The log file is a good start and helps us understand your setup and what you are trying to do when you encounter your problem.

I read back your posts and I still have no clue how to reproduce the behavior you describe.
So no help from me, sorry.

PMS Media Server no longer works correctly since V1.54

Postby cyberangel » Sun Nov 11, 2012 5:45 pm

As the thread was closed again.

I agree, and if I had not read through all the FAQ's and searched the Forums for any clues, then I wouldn't be posting here.

As shown in the previous locked post, there is nothing in the Debug Log to show why this is happening.

What I can tell you is this, if I grab a movie and play it, then it will skip play scenes. And I don't mean when it looses sync with the audio and races to catch up. I mean it will skip a good 30 seconds or more without missing a heart beat in playing it back. It is almost like someone has just cut the scene out and spliced it back together.

Now I don't have this problem with V1.54, and every version since experiences the problem.

And as people can see the Debug Logs show nothing. I copied the start of the log from when I started playing to the moment I stopped the playback. Now if there is something more I can give I would, but I have maintained that there is nothing in the logs and I proved it with the last locked post.

Question now is what changed since V1.54 that is causing this.

If you want help, start a new thread with the full debug.log, MediaInfo output and a video sample, as you've been asked numerous times.
