Help Internet is so slow

When I am using the server i.e. watching a movie. My internet becomes unusable. I have the ps3 hooked up wirelessly but i have no problems streaming video. I can even watch netflix on it and surf the web fine but when using the server streaming any size video the internet wont work i cant even load google without trying 4 or 5 times. I know this has to be a setting because i have run it fine before and also with other servers. Can anyone help?
