Every MP3 parsed badly in one folder, worked in old version.

Postby Timmn » Wed Oct 03, 2012 7:20 pm

I have a Alurtek AIREC01F Wireless internet Radio and Media Player that was working fine with my old server, which was running PMS 1.54. As far as I can tell, it sends no identification information to PMS, so I can't figure out how to make a config file for it. However, even without a config file, it worked fine. I just built a new server with PMS version 1.60, and now it's giving me these parsing errors when I try to access certian folders with the Aluratek.

My mp3 files are arranged as follows /server/music/artest/album/files.mp3

Here is the debug log:

The Elton John folder has two other folders in it, and the files in them are showing up.
I have no idea why this would start doing this, and only on a few folders, the others are fine. All the MP3 files were made with the same software (Sound Juicer). All of the files show up when I use my Samsung BR player.

From what I can see in the code, that message appears when the ending of your files don't end exactly with ".mp3".
Is there perhaps an extra character space after the ".mp3" of the files that are being reported?
What happens if you rename a file to "test.mp3"?

I'm sorry it took so long to get back to you, but I've come up with a solution that only deepens the mystery. I found that if I renamed the mp3 file from "file.mp3" to "file.MP3" on the files that won't parse, they start showing up. As an experiment, I renamed one of the ".MP3" files back to ".mp3" and it disappears again (badly parsed). The best part of this is that some files can remaim ".mp3", and it isn't because they were made with the same program, because many of the files I had to rename were 99 cent music files I bought from Rhapsody and Amazon.

I know that in Linux, "mp3" isn't the same as "MP3", but it seems strange that some files have to be renamed, while others don't.
