srt + avi = unreadable, only avi = readable

Hi,

I'm using pms on my desktop and watching it on my philips smart tv.
Always worked but since a week ago it wont work propperly anymore!

When i put my .AVI and my .SRT file in a map together with same name i can't play it, it says: couldn't find the file or the file in unreadable.
When i remove the .SRT and only .AVI is in the map, then it plays.

Weird, and i can't find what it is so please help me ( my girlfriend hate movies without subtitles ) xD

same thing with me but a little different. avi files give me a 800288BF error same if i play it from pms. the thumbnail plays but once i click it error pops up. On USB there is no thumbnail which is weird. anyone can please me out? I'd really appreciate it.
