Different audio settings for different renderers?

Postby Lastb0isct » Mon Sep 24, 2012 11:42 pm

Hi all,

I searched in the FAQ & wiki's but couldn't find any information on this. Is there a way to have specific audio settings for specific devices? I have a ps3 that is attached to a receiver which I want to receive the full 5.1 DTS, no transcode/mux. But I also have a RaspberryPi, that is connected to a separate TV via hdmi->dvi & 3.5mm jack. For the RPi, I want PMS to pass the video on, but downmix the audio to stereo. Does anyone know of a way to do this?

Thanks,

Derek

I don't think there is an option in the .conf file to determine the number of audio channels that a renderer supports.

There is a detection parameter "n" for the supported lines, but I doubt it will cause PMS to mix down the number of audio channels when a file doesn't match.

I do have two computers that I could run PMS on, just thought of that. Can i set one of them to be used in my living room for full 5.1/7.1 etc. But have my other PMS running a mix-down to the RaspberryPi? I haven't ever messed with Down-mixing with PMS before...
