AVI Audio of of sync.

Postby edge05 » Thu Sep 13, 2012 5:55 pm

hey guys, having a problem with my AVI streams to my media box. For some reason the audio is 1-2 seconds behind the video. it only happens with divx/xvid (avi) videos, MKV files work fine. ive already tried the disabling a/v sync alt method & force framerate parsed from ffmpeg. any suggestions? thanks!

I'm having the same problem. With M4V files I've found that using the FFmpeg encoder works (so long as I don't fast forward or rewind). For AVI files, I found that forcing MEncoder works, even with fast forward / rewind (at least on 1.70.1, as MEncoder did not work at all on 1.60).

Hello,

I've used PMS for a while now and had never any problems.
Since I use version 1.60 (just upgraded to 1.70, trying to solve the problem) some AVI files are out of sync.
In other words, the sound comes right after the persons stop talking in the video.

I try to watch some files (AVI files) that are on my computer. I use PMS to watch the files on my television through a PS3.
The network connection is wired, so the connection should be stable. As far as I can find, there is no internet connection problem.
The files seem only out of sync when I try to watch them through my PS3 on my (old) television.
The files are working fine on my computer, no out of sync. Also on another television, a new TV from my parents (smart tv) with also a wired connection to the Internet, is working fine.
That TV would be the solution, but the problem is that my parents are watching television to and don't want to watch my movies.
The strange thing is, that the out of sync problem only occurs after 3/4 part of the file. In the beginning all is fine.

I tried to disable the A/V sync option in the MEncoder menu. Also enabled the forced frame-rate option. Started the PMS again after saving the settings, but the problem is still there.
I also tried to play with some other options, but I'm not familiar with the trans-coding options.
I don't use subtitles and one other thing that I find strange is the "transcode buffer status" on the status tab. It's not showing anything, like there is no trans-coding running.

I have to say that not all files give those problems.

Can anyone help me how to fix this?

try the latest mencoder

http://www.spirton.com/mplayer-mencoder-sb38-released/

the one packed with pms is very old (sb32). i really wish devs would keep this upto date also. we finnaly got the newer mencoder builds after the longtime issue with it and now we dont update to them lol.

Unfortunatelly MEncoder will not be used anymore (replaced with FFMPEG) so maybe because of that nobody from devs don't care about it 8-)

If MEncoder will not be used anymore, how about the subtitle options.
I live in Holland and my English is good, but my girlfriend can't understand English as I can. She needs subs.

The subs, if I use them, work fine. As far as I know, the only subs options are under the MEncoder options.
Is this different, has this nothing to do with the transcoding of the file?
If that's the case, I can see how this would effect the a/v sync problems.
If MEncoder is not used and the subs should not work either, then I don't understand.

I try to download the latest MEncoder and save the url. Is this going to work with PMS?
