Streaming to Windows 8 PC?

Hi! I have searched high and low, and I haven't found anything that helps yet. I am setting up a netbook for my daughter and the OS is Windows 8. I already have PS3 Media Server set up on my PC, and it streams to my PS3/Android Tablet/Android Phone just fine. I want to be able to stream to her netbook now. The PS3 Media Server appears under 'My Computer' on her netbook, but when you open it, it shows no media files. It also appears as another Library in Windows Media Player, but again, when you go to browse it, no files are shown. PS3 Media Server has detected WMP as a renderer on her netbook, but again, none of the movies show up in Windows Explorer or Windows Media Player. Can anyone help me? Thanks!

I was able to get PMS 1.7 set work on windows 8.

Here are steps

1. go to control panel services.
2. Ensure Windows Media Player Internet Sharing Service is running
3. Go to Tiles view
4. Put cursor in upper right hand corner to get side menu
5. Click settings
6. Click Ethernet Icon
7. Right Click on Network
8. Turn Sharing ON

9. In PS3 Media Player Force IP address to 127.0.0.1
Forcing port is optional if you run a netstat -a and don't see PMS running on port
change it to a diferent port.

After changes about PMS was able to find my playstation

I can't get my PS3 Media server showing on the PS3 - only Windows Media Player (at least the icon doesn't look like the one that showed up when I was using Windows 7), se below:



I do get the gree tickbox that PS3 Media server found my PS3, but not vice versa.



.. could this be due to no portwarding?
