Windows Firewall Settings win7x64

Postby teejay00 » Sun Aug 19, 2012 4:41 pm

i7 CPU 3.80GHz
12,0 GB RAM
Windows 7 Ultimate x64 SP1
Microsoft Security Essensials (why im using windows firewall)
PMS version: 1.60.0

Windows firewall has now somewhere in the last month or two started to block something for ps3media server for me. I disabled the firewall for outgoing and media server works again, BUT what can i do to allow firewall to stay on and still get the pms working? Both the computer and the ps3 is connected with cable to the router. Simply adding pms and java to exseption didn't solve it :(

I had same problem, until I opened the TCP 5001 (default PSM port) port in the windows 7 firewall.

Once I added the rule in the "Inbounds Rules" for port 5001 and protocol TCP, and restarted the PSM server it all started working.

Before this I had also tried adding the following programs to the firewall (not sure if they needed now, but i have left them in) :-

%ProgramFiles% (x86)\PS3 Media Server\PMS.exe
%ProgramFiles% (x86)\PS3 Media Server\win32\service\wrapper.exe

How do I open up the 5001 by default? The PMS used to connect but all of a sudden it stopped and I'm not sure what settings I changed to stop it from working. I got it to stop showing me there are no renderers by forcing the IP of the server but not sure if opening up the 5001 by default will help. Any suggestions?
