Would like to block access to tv?

Postby stone2 » Thu Aug 16, 2012 7:25 am

Hi all,
New user here.
I have an xbox in my bedroom and have configured ps3 media server and all running fine, however I would like to disable access to the server from my samsung tv in the lounge as I don't want the kids to have access. Is there a way I can do this?
Cheers

General Configuration -> Network settings (advanced) -> Use an IP filter.

Thanks for your help.
Yeah, thought of that and guess it is the only way to go it's just that the tv's ip gets changed frequently as the router gets rebooted time from time and so ip changes.
Thanks again

Many routers provide a way to reserve an IP address per MAC address:

You can set a fix ip on your tv (probably!?) and many routers allow static dhcp where the same mac address will get the same ip next time it connects.

Edit: chocolateboy was faster :)
If you always wanted to have your most recent videos at the top of the folder in the ps3 or wished you could group all videos with the same genre in one folder, have a look at pms-mlx
