Aspect ratio of 720p videos - Bravia KDL W5500

Up to version 1.51.0 it was fine, but after this all 720p videos with aspect ratio other than 16:9 are distorted - video is vertically stretched and black bars are missing. Obviously movies cannot be watched like this and any try to fiddle with the settings has no effect.

Interestingly 1080p videos play back fine even on newest version.

I tried to change the Bravia5500.conf and PMS.conf files to the ones from 1.51.0 and even this had no effect.

I have one computer with Ubuntu 11.10 64 bit and other with OS X 10.7.3 and this behaviour is same with both of them.

Should I get the debug.log files and/or something else here?

I've got the same problem with some movies. One is an mkv, divx avc, h264: when stream with mencoder is correct but with tsmuxer stretched in vertical and black bars disappears

Problem of the renderer(TV).
MEncoder can fix it by transcoding video but when streamed, TV display it incorrectly (as my Panasonic TV and many others)

have u check the information of the media on your TV? like what is the resolution of the file and the codec. mine is facing the same issue with popcorn hour. the renderer shows the media information having a resolution of 720x480 when playing 720p videos.
