PS3 Media Server not playing MKV and FLV

another one, an entire series i cant watch cause of data corrupted error

so many mkvs don't work i don't understand how people are not having regular problems with them.. they must be.. i am clearly not the only person, this is clearly a massively common error/problem

even if i use mkccleaver and mkvtools to extract the h264 and use eac3to to change the dts to ac3 the m2ts plays without picture, but audio, just a black screen, so there is a clear difference between the container playback even.. but the h264 cant be seen by doing this method as this usually works for problematic mkvs. mkvcleaver/mkvtools, demux get h264 and dts, convert the dts to ac3 with eac3to then remux the h264 and ac3 into an m2ts container with tsmuxer, it still won't play...

For your normal 4.1 level video MKV's, try disabling remuxing w/MEncoder. Either from the GUI, or from the #Video Settings# folder. Then try to play just using MEncoder.
The black screen, w/ sound is typically a tsMuxer issue.
If all MKV are having remux issues when using MEncoder, I would suggest trying another version of PMS as w/ some the problem is more prevelant.

Nothing to suggest for your AviSynth quest w/Hi10 video in your last post, other than this. I stay away from both.

To be correct, it is renderer issue(HW limitation/buggy decoder in UPnP client of the renderer)

Then why does muxing work with one version of PMS, and not the next. Nothing changes on my renderer between different PMS installs.

Don't know. tsMuxeR is dead so all versions used in last PMS buils are all same. So only difference should be demuxed audio and video streams with MEncoder (If we are talking about same file and different behaviors for different PMS builds)

Yes, that's what I mean. So you are saying it must be the way MEncoder and tsMuxer work together then within any specific PMS version.

I don't know but I am sure that muxing code done by tsMuxeR wasn't changed for ages. So only what I can imagine is how streams were demuxed and here MEncoder is used.
You can try it by using non working PMS version and copying MEncoder file from working PMS if it helps. If yes, "problem" is MEncoder. If not, then more debugging is needed.

I just change PMS versions until I find one that works with muxing. And as far as tsMuxer, yeah development on it has been dead for a while according to my research. Must just be that in some versions, MEncoder and tsMuxer don't work well together.

As long as I have a version of PMS that muxing works with, I am happy.
