Not picking up PS3

Hey there. I'm new to this type of thing but I came across this and thought I'd try it out since it looked pretty easy. I downloaded and installed Java PS3 Media Server on my computer and ran it. It said it failed with the "...could not find PS3. Is it on?" stuff. I went into my PS3's settings and saw that the Media Server stuff was disabled, so I enabled it. Still couldn't find the system. I'm hooked up through the same router and everything, but I'm not sure if I need to do some settings or run anything on the PS3. I tried to find a tutorial, but it looks like you should be able to start it up and go. I would love some helpful pointers if possible.

ensure to open port 5001 (default), UPnP and if you are using Windows enable service: SSDP Discovery Service along will firewall tweak.
