Media Server appears on PS3, but "No Renderers Found"

Hi all, I've been lurking for a little while and have learned quite a bit from all the info on the forums. It has been such a great resource to get me up and running, however I've recently come across an issue that I just can't figure out.

The PS3 Media server appears as expected on the PS3 when I turn it on, and streams my videos flawlessly (as far as I can tell), and decodes the audio tracks correctly, however, when checking the settings on my PC, the program shows there are "No Renderers Found". Odd, especially considering I'm streaming a movie at the same time.

So, why am I complaining? I can't seem to change any settings in the program, or have it discover my iTunes library as I would expect it to. It also requires a full PS3 and CPU restart to discover new folders and videos (this may be working as designed though, I'm not sure).

I'm running Win7 64bit, Core2Duo 6600, 4GB Ram, blah blah blah...I don't think this matters because the actual playback is just about perfect. It's probably worth noting that the last time it found a render was about a week ago, but nothing since. The settings that I configured then, is what has stuck, even after trying to change the settings in the setup menu.

So, I'd appreciate any insight you guys might have. I've ran through the network configurations (seems right, since it streams at all), the setup guides, and countless threads that seemed CLOSE to the issue I'm having, but nothing that seems to have helped.

Probably a permissions issue, although I'm a bit surprised that you haven't seen any playback issues. Have you reinstalled with Run as Administrator on the installer? Also check your firewall to see if incoming traffic from the PS3 is allowed.

I'm having the same issue it was working just the other week.... But for me not even WMP is found a renderer. Can't watch my movies over the holidays! Did a quick reinstall but not a clean one.

To confuse the situation further, the ps3 shows up as a renderer now, but only occasionally. With no settings changed - anywhere - it will work when I turn on the PS3 one time, but not the next. WMP isn't showing up for me either. Literally no renderers are available.

Hey all, I figured I'd circle back and let you know I've 'fixed' the problem. For whatever reason, having the media server installed as a service seemed to be causing the issue. Running 'sc delete "PS3 Media Server" ' from the command line, and adding it to the Start Up folder appears to have fixed the issue. My computer automatically logs me in on boot up, so it's not really an issue for me that it doesn't work when running as a service. At any rate, I hope someone else finds this useful.

I have Windows XP. I went to Start, Run and typed
sc delete "PS3 Media Server", I then clicked Ok. Is that correct?

Now what do I add to the Start up folder?

I am also getting 'no renderers were found' and I don't know why.
