Postby Stephen » Wed Dec 21, 2011 9:12 am

Hi there

Im very new to the site and PMS. This will be my first post so forgive me if i got certain things wrong in posting this. Im following this link to post my error
http://www.ps3mediaserver.org/forum/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=496

I have a HP Ml110 server with 8GB mem and Windows Foundation server 2008. I have installed the 64bit version of java and PMS 1.50 release installed.
Network Config
192.168.0.1
255.255.255.0
GW:192.168.0.1

Trying to stream to a PS3
Network Config
192.168.0.255
255.255.255.0
GW:192.168.0.1
Media server is enabled

I have a Cnet 1GB Switch nothing fancy. It all on a local LAN with no routers involved. If i ping the PS3 i can resolve this IP and i get a reply.

I get an error saying No renders were found.

steps followed to try and resolve the error by searing the website. I have not attached all the links included but the steps followed is all from this website.

1. Made sure correct network card is being used.
2. Forced IP
3. Changed Port from 5001 to 6001
4. Set network on server to home network and not public network.
5. Uninstalled and reinstalled to C:\PMS (read there might be a permission error)
6. Started SSDP service
7. Started UPNP Service
8. Started DNS Client
9. Started Function discovery resource service
10. Disabled Firewall
11. Disabled windows defender.
12. Cross Over cable between server and ps3

Last resort reloaded laptop with XP. No firewall no nothing
Used cross over as well

Still same error and log is exactly the same

I am unable to attach the debug.log file but below is the file

If you always wanted to have your most recent videos at the top of the folder in the ps3 or wished you could group all videos with the same genre in one folder, have a look at pms-mlx

As you've got the line 'The server should now appear on your renderer' in your logs, you should check the after udp broadcast section.

As per the article After UDP

Host file for linux - i can add it but i can ping it.

Network has been set to home network
Firewall has been disabled.
Router cant block it as using switch and i have tried a cross over cable
Both devices are on same subnets - Can ping device
PS3 is actiavted for Allow media Servers.

Any other suggestions?

Do any other media servers work? Is that switch managed or is it still connected to a router? Can you test with a direct connection to remove the switch/router entirely?

I figured it out last night. If your read what i posted the fault and the answer is there.

The Ps3 Ip is 192.168.0.255... 255 does that sound strange???

ITs a broadcast IP. Changed it to 254 and everything works perfectly.

Thanks for the advice taconaut. Just next time read what someone posts, as i did list all the things you listed in the url you sent

But thanks for the help.

Could have seen it, but missed it... Glad you could sort it.

I'm surprised you could ping. Oh well, I'll update the FAQ post with a point for this as well.
