Java Array index out of bounds exception

Postby at2010 » Fri Dec 16, 2011 7:27 pm

Hello again.
Some M4v/MP4/MKV files are causing the java engine to crash. The server stays up though. The file simply does not play and I am watching a blank screen on the TV.
The error is java.lang.ArrayIndexOutOfBoundsException 43 at net.pms.util.AVCHeader.getBit(AVCHeader.java:85)
The problem is consistent and repeatable.

Computer/PS3 Server:
model: HP s322n.
cpu: AMD Athlon 64 X2 5000+ (2 core @ 2.6ghz)
ram: 4 GB
video: on board NVidia 6150SE shared memory
O/S: Windows 7 x64 sp1

PMS version 1.50.0 (32 bit)
Java: 1.6.0_29 Sun

Network: PC 100mb (wired, static ip) -> Linksys wrt54gx router -> 54g TV (wifi, dhcp)
Renderer: TV - Sony Bravia KDL46-EX710 (46", up to 1080p)

Attached file ooberr.zip contains: pms.conf, debug.log, traces.log, nattreasure.txt, braviaex.conf
nattreasure.txt contains media info for one of the videos that caused the java exception.

Thank you,

Looks like parsing the header goes wrong for "National Treasure (2004).m4v".

I will fix the error message, but parsing the AVC header will still fail for that particular file and I have no idea how that will impact movie playback.

*edit* Fix committed. Also: it looks like the fix will not impact movie playback even though bogus information is returned.

Thank you Raptor.

I encoded the video from DVD using Handbrake 0.9.5 (win 32). I can include other files that cause the same error. Would you like to have those logs?

Happy Holidays!
