K-Lite codec pack + PMS = can't view videos on sec. monitor

So, I had K-Lite codec pack already installed on this PC before I installed PMS.
Everything was working fine on my PS3 - but when i wanted to launch Media player classic/BSPlayer/any other video app, and drag it to the second monitor I use,
Which is an old CRT, it would make the app HANG has soon as the video attempted to display on the CRT.
I tried uninstalling K-Lite codec pack as I thought i had ffdshow conflicts - didn't work.
Next im going to try and uninstall PMS and just use the codec pack to see if PMS is the culprit.
Any other advice?

Update: Trie removing pms, then k-lite codec pack, then reinstalling the newest k-lite codec pack. after each stage i re-tried playing video on sec. screen without success - made bsplayer/media player classic crash.
however, after all these i tried using vlc - and this worked.
i know vlc doesnt use local codecs or something of that sort. does anyone have any idea whats wrong?
