PS3 Media Server and PS3 Software v2.60

hi all,

i've been using the ps3 media server for 3 days now and it worked really good since ever i first started it, it could play my .mkv and .avi files without a problem.

but, just an hour ago, i updated my PS3 to the 2.60 version because it wouldn't let me log-in anymore. now it just says media file not supported every time i try to play mkv & avi files, i even tried viewing the same files i viewed yesterday, but no luck.

i haven't seen another thread about this yet on the forums - but can anyone help me out with this? i haven't touched the media server settings since i ran 1.03 yesterday.

I wanted to update firmware too (photo gallery looks very promising) but now I won't till this bug will be fixed.

I've updated and had no problems at all with PMS.

it must be the computer side
did you make any changes to the firewall etc?

can you use the PS3 server on your ps3?

Seems to work for me - I can see the files on my computer even though I can't get PMS to run properly on WinXP64

And ... not sure but seems better on network perf.
no Stutter on my stuttering 1080p test file.

I am a new PMS user as well (have been using twonky and am running twonky and PMS both right now)....
I have been trying to iron out a few issues as well, but I updated the PS3 to 2.60 last night and like others here have said I do not have any trouble actually "seeing" the files on the server.

okay thanks for all the replies, I guess the issue really is something with my PC then - it's just weird because I haven't touched the media server or any firewall stuff.

I'll just try re-installing java & then PMS.

Wasn't working for me too with the 2.60, don't know why =_=... i changed the port and now it's working again xD
