Video Scaler in 1.03

Hi I have noticed a difference in 1.03 from the beta (1.02.5)

In the beta I could set the video scaler in MEcoder to 1920x1080 and while using the Avisynth/MEcoder engine it would still upscale, but this doesnt seem to happen with 1.03
While using the MEcoder engine in 1.03 it will upsale but not with Avisynth/MEcoder.

Am I missing a setting somewhere?

yes I changed that because that's not the role of mencoder to change avisynth video resolution
if you want to do some scaling with AviSynth/Mencoder, you must customise the AviSynth script and use Avisynth functions:

Try this

clip=DirectShowSource("<moviefilename>").Lanczos4Resize(1920, 1080)
return clip

Note that the resolition was wrong. At first I could not figure out how it worked either, maybe its an idea to put an example script in the comments.

why don't you resize in ffdshow?

I did try it with ffdshow a while ago but found the preformace lacking.
I just tryed to upsale with the last beta to see how the new mecoder would handle it and was quite surprised that it didnt skip a beat
I olny hope that upscaling with avisnyth is also as quick.

That worked a treat, thanks guys.
I might have been a bit too hopeful using Lanczos4Resize very chopy, BicubicResize and spline16/36 seem ok from the limited testing I have done.
Also ffdshow seems quite happy to upscale now as well, do you think it could be the new mecoder?
I dont think I have changed anything else in my system since I last tryed it.

daft question but how do you get FFDSHOW to upscale ?

I can't get it to trigger the use of FFDSHOW - even with all other decoder options disabled - it still won't kick in

I'm assuming Avisynth/FFdshow is the one to use ?

Just using Avisynth/MEcoder "should" use ffdshow, but it will depend on how you have the codecs set up so play on your pc.

To get ffdshow to upscale you need to set that in the options of ffdshow.

However after more testing I still gets a lot of stuters with upscaling this way (ffdshow/avisynty)
I still find using that beta with the mecoder upscaling to have the best perforamce, any chance you could change that back to how it was in the beta shagrath?
